El número de internautas chinos ha superado los 500 millones, lo que supone un 40 por ciento de la población del país asiático, según datos oficiales divulgados este viernes.
Según las últimas cifras de la Oficina Estatal de Información de Internet, el número de usuarios de internet en las zonas rurales de China, las más pobres,alcanzó los 130 millones, indicó el director de la oficina, Wang Chen.
Los internautas de las zonas campesinas suponen por tanto un 27 por ciento del total, informó hoy el diario económico "Caijing".
China se mantiene como el mayor mercado de internet del mundo con esta cifra, seguido de Estados Unidos, con 245 millones y un índice de penetración del 78,2 por ciento, y de la India, con 100 millones que suponen un 8,4 por ciento de su población.
Según Wang, el sector de internet se ha convertido en uno de los más estratégicos del país asiático, ya que, por ejemplo, las ventas en internet dan trabajo directo a dos millones de chinos y a otros 13 millones de forma indirecta.
Además, casi la mitad de los 500 millones de internautas chinos hacen uso de las redes sociales para comunicarse y compartir información.
En el aspecto negativo, 100 millones de chinos son víctimas de virus informáticos, según un estudio de la compañía Rising publicado este mes por la prensa oficial china.
